Samsung Electronics develops IoT operating system or simplified version of Tizen

According to foreign reports, Samsung Electronics is currently developing a new operating system for IoT devices, hoping to play a more important role in the era of smart home appliances, wearable devices and industrial devices entering the Internet.

The IoT operating system developed by Samsung Electronics will be an open source operating system, but it has not yet been named. The operating system helps the device perform simple tasks without human intervention. For example, when the user approaches their home, the operating system can open the closed door and lights. Samsung Electronics will disclose more information about the IoT operating system at the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco next month.

The schedule of the Samsung Developers Conference shows that "Samsung Electronics will announce our new, open source IoT real-time operating system. While retaining the light and effective features, the operating system will bring a series of new features." Samsung Electronics People did not comment on the information about the Internet of Things operating system.

An instant operating system can process data quickly with virtually no latency. For example, Intel's VxWorks operating system has been used in NASA's Mars Rover program.

Samsung Electronics developed an open source IoT operating system that allows the operating system to be adopted by more vendors, allowing more IoT devices to interoperate. The goal of this move is to avoid the fragmentation of the Android operating system and re-enact it in the Internet of Things operating system. Because of the problems of the Android operating system itself, it affects a series of problems such as device interoperability, chip compatibility, and software update deployment.

The IoT operating system developed by Samsung Electronics is actually a simplified version of the TIzen operating system, which has now been applied to Samsung Electronics' smartphones and TVs. According to Samsung's plan, including appliances such as refrigerators, electric ovens, washing machines, and light bulbs, it is possible to use this operating system.

Samsung Electronics also introduced the ArTIk IoT chip to support the development of smart devices. The company's IoT operating system will allow developers to access Samsung's SAMI cloud platform for analysis, security and other services. For example, the cloud service will decide to turn the air conditioner on or off based on the data collected from the smart meter. In addition, it can analyze health information through collected data.
