In response to these needs, Murata has carried out quality innovation activities on three axes: "strengthening the longevity", "improving quality by aiming at zero defects", and "strengthening the response to complaints." In addition, it also plans to actively invest in equipment aimed at strengthening the reliability test and failure analysis system.

The "Automobile Reliability Technology Section", a special-purpose department in charge of automotive technology in the quality assurance department of the head office, has become a key link in Murata's quality assurance system. The “Automobile Reliability Technology Section” was established in 2004, and its main role is to establish a reliability guarantee mechanism based on the premise of the harsh environment unique to the car. Specifically, it refers to grasping the model and mechanism of wear and aging of vehicle-mounted products, its mechanism, and limit life. Master the harsh environment unique to automobiles and formulate corresponding test standards. Realize the design that considers the endurance life, and its test procedures, etc. These are all conducted under the leadership of the Automotive Reliability Technology Section.

There are three kinds of failure factors for components: "internal factors" inside the components, "external factors" due to the stresses imposed by the factory's manufacturing process and the stresses imposed by the use environment after being placed on the market, and "temporal aging factors". These three are intertwined, resulting in malfunctions after the components are placed on the market. From the perspective of component manufacturers, although the internal cause and the mechanism of temporal aging can be grasped, it is difficult to obtain information on the external factors imposed after the product is shipped and delivered to the user. Therefore, Murata has launched its own collection of information and data on external causes in order to accurately grasp the customer requirements and use environment information related to reliability issues, and provide customers with products that meet the requirements in a timely manner.

The production of new functional products requires the development of corresponding components. Murata carries out "design sharing" activities from the development and design of new products to the cooperation between the technicians of both parties with the electronics manufacturers of major customers.

Through this activity, Murata participates in and communicates with customers in the early stages of the development of new functional products to provide customers with the best electronic components they are satisfied with. Since 2005, Murata has visited major car body manufacturers in Japan, Europe, North America and China, as well as automotive electronic equipment manufacturers called "TIer1", and exchanged opinions on reliability and quality. As many as 34 companies visited.
