Recently, Showa Denko announced that it will team up with Toyota Gosei, a global LED manufacturer, to form a new LED manufacturing and sales company, TS Opto Co., Ltd.
Showa Denko said that the company is engaged in gallium nitride (GaN), aluminum gallium indium phosphide (AlGaInP; aluminum-gallium-indium-phosphide), gallium arsenide (GaAs; gallium-arsenide) and gallium phosphide (GaP; Production and sales of various LED chips such as gallium phosphide). Among them, the GaN blue LED chip business produced at the Chiba business will be spun off in December 2012 to form TS Opto, and 70% of TS Opto will be transferred to Toyota Synthetic, and Showa Denko will hold the remaining 30%.
Showa Denko pointed out that TS Opto's LED production will still be carried out through the existing plants of Showa Denko, in order to increase the profitability of the factory by the joint venture.
