Leading high power led technology

Bangchen is one of the three LED companies in Dongguan that won the bid for the “Thousand Miles of 100,000” project in Guangdong. The reason why it can stand out from the crowd is that the state is based on the light source control technology and heat dissipation materials.

Wu Gang told reporters that after six years of packaging technology precipitation, Bangchen officially began to intervene in the field of downstream lighting three years ago, and together with Chengdu University of Electronic Science and Technology to form an LED lighting engineering center, research and development of LED lighting system technology, initially grasped the domestic Advanced light source control technology.

Taking white LED as an example, the single 1W high-power white light flux of Bangchen package has exceeded 120LM, reaching 125LM, and the automated mass production is above 110LM, which is in the leading position in the country. At present, the US GREE laboratory can achieve 203LM, mass production is around 130LM.

After conquering the problem of light source control, Bunchen locked his eyes on the heat sink material of the LED. Last year, Bangchen cooperated with the National Nonferrous Metal Research Institute to conduct research on LED basic materials, jointly deal with the heat dissipation problem of LED light source chip connection layer, and developed a heat dissipation material with high thermal conductivity, which effectively improved the technical difficulty of high power LED heat dissipation.

Sprint upstream chip development

Although Guangdong accounts for nearly half of the total output value of the domestic LED industry, it is behind the “false prosperity” with low added value. In the midstream of production equipment, substrate materials, epitaxial wafers, chips, etc., Dongguan is still almost blank.

At present, the chips required for the high-power LED of Bangchen are basically imported from foreign countries. Although the LED series products have a good performance, but the state is not satisfied with the status quo. "The product is good, the 'core' is also someone else's." Wu Gang thus described the helplessness of the state's core technology research and development.

Wu Gang said that there is no chip research and development technology in China, which is a huge risk for the LED industry, and it faces the problem of hollowing out technology.

The technical injury caused Bangchen to start planning independent research and development of the chip. In order to strengthen technology research and development, it also made initial contact with East China University of Science and Technology. "In addition to East China Institute of Technology, we have been looking for ways to develop chips." Wu Gang revealed that the company has strived to develop its first chip in five years.

It is not difficult to see that Bunchen will extend the company's business upstream in the next few years to form a relatively complete industrial chain.

"Gambling" to train talents

"Either the country or the locality has provided great support to the LED industry. We have no concerns about the policy." Wu Gang pointed out that the fly in the ointment is that the period of reaching the relevant enterprises under the policy is too long, sometimes affecting the enterprise. The deployment work, even a little careless, missed the policy.

The biggest difficulty in the eyes of the state is undoubtedly the cost and talent. Wu Gang explained that the cost of research and development of chips is very high, and the cycle is long. Enterprises generally do not dare to take this risk.

Due to the rapid development of LEDs and beyond the expectations of many companies, the reserve of follow-up forces is clearly felt to be stretched, and the company has not been able to get rid of this predicament.

“This year, we have introduced 40 fresh graduates from Huazhong University of Science and Technology as our future R&D reserve.” Wu Gang believes that talents are best trained by companies in practice, but at the same time he does not deny the existence of Bangchen. The psychology of "gambling" is because the talents cultivated may be lost for various reasons.
