At present, the types of heat-dissipating mechanisms of high-power LEDs can be roughly classified into two types: "active heat dissipation" and "passive heat dissipation". Active heat dissipation can be divided into additional fan forced cooling and water-cooling heat dissipation. In addition, passive heat dissipation can be divided into : Natural heat dissipation, heat pipe and fins, temperature plate and fins, loop heat pipe technology, etc.
If the heat transfer method can be divided into three ways: "heat conduction", "heat convection" and "heat radiation". Heat conduction refers to the phenomenon that heat flows from a high temperature to a low temperature in a solid medium. The high temperature object is placed in the air, in the cooling water or cooled by the fan, which belongs to the transfer of heat convection. Lower fluid temperatures, higher fluid flow rates, and larger contact areas all contribute to the effect of heat convection. Basically, increasing the heat dissipation area, using materials with better heat conduction, and matching fans are common methods for solving the heat dissipation problem of LEDs.
