By applying Wavescale compression technology to consumer video applications, Analog Devices has developed a solution that supports high-definition wireless HD signal transmission while eliminating human error and impermissible errors based on MPEG video solutions. The ADV216 also features ADI's patented SURF® space efficient recursive filtering wavelet technology, which supports real-time compression and resolution scalability without the need for external memory. In addition to delivering clear, continuous HD programming to TV and HD TV companions, the ADV216 also supports low latency, improving the user's video gaming experience and supporting fast response wireless remote control.
The ADV216 has an application programming interface (API) that simplifies system design by allowing HDTV manufacturers to adjust the compressed data rate frame by frame to free them from the worst transmission condition design. The CODEC can also be adapted to changing transmission environments, such as changes in wireless data transmission rates due to interference or other factors, without dropping frames. The ADV216 also supports HDMITM (High-Definition Multimedia InterfaceTM) and wireless HD transmission applications.
