Good sound in the matchbox, COWON PLENUE D player evaluation

Vaguely remember that last year saw a friend in Weiyang Baishui holding PLENUE 1 in my hand and showed me a pendulum, at the time not to mention more acid and cool. Grapes that are not eaten are always sour. It was also the chat that brought the COWON PLENUE series into my sights. Although one year passed, I still haven't been to PLENUE 1.

But this year's spring is more fortunate, and you have access to the new COWON ----PLENUE D. In fact, this year's product of the PLENUE series has two major features. First of all, different types of switches have been designed in a unified manner. The circular button outer ring is marked with PLENUE HIGH DEFINITION SOUND, and the PLENUE at the top of the screen on the front of the product has formed a more effective and intuitive way. Brand recognition.

Secondly, PLENUE S has finally exceeded RMB 10,000 as the flagship price, which also makes ASTEL & KERN with multiple million-level players not alone.

As a senior listener, I do not want to tell you about the features of PLENUE D, and talk about some of my experiences.

Exquisite appearance

In terms of design, the top operating plane design of the PLENUE D is based on the golden ratio of the equidistant edge design and then finely adjusted.

The high-quality black aluminum body is finished by CNC machining and diamond cutting. The black body and the control panel's gold & silver color match highlight the exquisiteness and charm of PLENUE. The power button design is quite unique. In order to facilitate the operation, the power button is deliberately placed at a lower position than the panel, and at the same time, the probability of misoperation can be reduced. In addition, LED status indicators combine operation and machine response. When the music is playing, it will intermittently flash white light. During the charging process, the LED will have a red gradient, and the LED on the switch will be like a finishing touch. It will add a lot of color to the PLENUE D.

The two screws at the bottom of the machine and the MICRO-USB data interface combined into a smiley face, reminds me of the MAGIC of Sen Yun. Looks adorable.

Long standby

The E1001 that I used to give 1MORE a few days ago took the opportunity. The result took 2 days and 2 nights to run out of electricity. I was scared to read the official data before I learned that the theoretical standby time is 100 hours. Because I will have some operations, the machine will last about 50 hours. Really scared the baby. This is my longest standby player so far.

Small and portable

53.1mm (W) x 77.2mm (H) x 14.9mm (D) / 94g, which is the official parameter. I have personally come across a relatively portable player with a fairly good sound and a decent number of players, SONY ZX1, AK JR, Lotto Iron Chrysanthemum. The price is only a few hundred Fiio M3, and then PLENUE D. The PLENUE D, like the above player, can easily pocket the bag and run for several runs. The weight of 94 grams will not bring too much burden. Of course, as an ostentatious lazy fat man, how could I run?

Convenient blind operation

Similar to most models of SONY and AK players, PLENUE D uses side buttons to provide more convenient and faster operation. It's just a three-button type, where the previous/next song (fast forward/rewind) and volume +/volume are respectively focused on one key. The top is responsible for quickly cutting songs, with a play/pause key in the middle and a volume adjustment button at the bottom.

It's very easy to get up and put in your pocket.

Wide viewing angle display and intuitive UI

If you are used to the XPLAY5 2K screen, even if it is 1080P screen, look back to PLENUE D, confident that the grainy sense, but as a niche product selling price of 2000, the player sales is far less mobile phone, so the screen Still difficult to customize, before the domestic player screens are mostly acquired inventory of some eliminated, upstream suppliers can not be customized to a brand of several thousand or tens of thousands of screens. This is also the pain point of niche products.

However, the display of the PLENUE D really can be regarded as a wide viewing angle.

The UI is intuitive and easy to navigate. In the playback interface, the left and right of the album cover are the music list and setting buttons. Click on the left button to quickly find and select music by categories such as folders, singers, albums, songs, genres, and dates. At the same time, PLENUE D also supports multiple favorites and quick search.

Click the button consisting of the four small boxes in the upper right corner to enter the quick setup menu. You can operate the song playback sequence, EQ, etc.

It should be noted that the PLENUE UI does not design the setup function in the root menu. The user needs to click the upper right button to enter the menu and select the wrench pattern to enter the system settings. PLENUE D also does not set a back button. After the user completes the operation in the menu list, he/she needs to click the play button in the status bar at the top to return to the main interface. People who are used to the Android operating system need to adapt for a while. But overall, manipulation is worthy of praise.

JetEffect5

This is a very interesting thing, JetEffect5 & BBE + simply EQ, the user can make a reasonable compensation for the sound of the various frequency bands, which allows the user to get the most natural approach to the original in any listening environment may cause sound distortion sound. Of course, EQ can give you more sound styles. Although this feature is most likely to be discarded by old friends. The so-called "Rob" vegetables have their own love, this function can always help you find the "frequency band" that suits you.

32GB+128GB storage

PLENUE D body built-in 32G memory, TF card slot supports up to 128G expansion, this storage space is sufficient to meet most people's music file storage.

sound

Sound is a player worthy of discussion. PLENUE D is equipped with high quality 24bit/192kHz stereo DAC in Hi-Fi sound system, including SNR 123dB, THD+N 0.004%, Crosstalk - 105dB to provide excellent sound quality.

With AKG N20 and Audio-Technica ATH-EM7x listening for a few days, personal feel PLENUE sound quality is good, sound neutral, but too straightforward, less low-frequency volume, vocal thickness is slightly thinner. Of course, the low-frequency feel of the EM7x will be more than that of the AKG N20, but it is inferior to the latter in the low-frequency strength. You will feel that this is a SONY D50 taste, an IPOD taste, but the quality is not in the same dimension as the D50.

Don't worry, you don't need to be a master. BBE Mach3Bass will save your listening. Of course, PLENUE's EQ function is not only Bass, up to more than 20 sound effects, there is always one for you. Although PLENUE D sounds straightforward, but through its powerful EQ settings, can be reasonable according to the style of the headset to mix and tune, you can get more suitable for individual taste output style. This is where the highlights of PLENUE D are.

to sum up

The PLENUE D is a small, portable and exquisitely-looking "Chrysanthemum" player. In terms of sounds, I personally admitted that I couldn't meet the ears of senior fans, but JetEffect5 brought you “72 changes” and added a lot of fun.
