According to cens.com, Nanocrystal Asia Inc., a 20% owned shareholder of Yanyuan Optoelectronics and Dongbei Optoelectronics, plans to sign a contract with Yuyuan Optoelectronics to produce its latest LED chip.
According to FR Chien, chairman of Haoyuan Optoelectronics, the chip is three to four times brighter than the existing chips of the company because it uses the patented defect-free GaN micro-structured LED technology. The technology is known for its low cost and high reliability, which increases the penetration of LED products in the solid-state white lighting, LED backlights for automobiles, notebooks, PDAs, mobile phones and backlit LCD TVs.
Chairman of FR Chien also said that this technology of Nano Crystal will dominate the field in the next two years. With this unique technology, the brightness of the chips produced by the company can be increased by 50% every year, and in terms of the level of improvement in previous years, it is increased by 15%-20% every year.
Ehud Lee, president of Nano Crystal Optoelectronics, said that the company will enter into a partnership with Taiwan's LED industry by issuing patent licenses with local manufacturers in exchange for contract manufacturing services.
