Cirrus Logic has introduced the CS4270 product. The CS4270 combines superior dynamic range with minimal distortion to further optimize superior sound quality, making it ideal for entry and mid-range products such as set-top boxes, digital TVs, DVD recorders, audio/video receivers, musical instruments and car audio systems. .

The CS4270 features a multi-bit Delta Sigma architecture that provides high quality analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog data conversion at 24-bit resolution at any standard digital audio sample rate of up to 216 kHz. The CS4270 has both single-ended inputs and outputs for a dynamic range of 105 dB and a THD+N of -95 dB. With minimal passive external components, the CS4270 offers designers a simple solution that reduces material costs while saving printed circuit board space.

The CS4270 can be powered from a single 3.3V or 5V supply, and its on-chip level shifter is directly connected to a logic level of 1.8V to 5.0V. Simply configuring the pins in hardware mode provides basic functionality. Additional features such as logarithmic digital volume control can be achieved by configuring the device with industry-standard control ports. Like other Cirrus single-ended output data converters, the CS4270 uses Popguard(r) technology to control the click and pop sounds caused by the power switch, eliminating the need for an external mute control circuit.
