Intel pushes Ultrabook notebook makers to wait and see

Intel pushes Ultrabook notebook makers to wait and see Intel recently launched a new marketing strategy and invested a large amount of budget and resources to promote the "Ultrabook" laptop concept proposed by Computex, but the vendors are not planning to buy it for the time being.

Given that Intel's 2009 CULV consumer-grade ultra-low-voltage thin-and-light notebooks have failed, coupled with the fact that the notebook market is hit by tablet computers, most notebook makers are conservative about the Intel Ultrabook concept. Many manufacturers have already begun testing Ultrabook notebooks, but they are still undecided about whether to start production.

Intel’s ambition is to make the Ultrabook notebook occupy 40% of the global consumer notebook market by the end of 2012. The first product is the UX21 from Asustek and is scheduled to be launched in September, but other vendors have not yet moved.

Although Intel strongly supports and hopes to invest heavily in attracting manufacturers to launch related products, the high processor price of Ultrabook is the biggest obstacle hindered by downstream manufacturers, because they still doubt whether the price of Ultrabook notebook can be reduced to the minimum of 1,000 US dollars claimed by Intel. on.

The official wholesale price for the ultra-low-voltage dual-core Celeron 847/857, which is designed for Ultrabook notebooks, is $134, the same as the previous two generations of its kind, and Intel will add a single-core Celeron 787 in the next quarter.

At present, most manufacturers are watching the performance of the Asus UX21, ready to wait for the right time to enter this market.
