HP recalls laptop batteries five times in five years

These battery packs are mainly used in some HP Pavilion, Compaq Presario, HP Compaq, HP series laptops manufactured from July 2007 to May 2008. Hewlett-Packard said that because of the battery cell manufacturing process, the battery pack overheats, melts, or scorches the outer shell of the product during use, further causing spontaneous combustion and potential safety hazards. However, HP's statement does not include the word "apologize."

This time, HP recalled a total of 162,600 batteries in the world. It is worth noting that this is the fifth time HP has recalled batteries in the past five years. In April 2006, HP had implemented a global plan to voluntarily recall and replace batteries due to defects in partially assembled batteries. In October 2008, Hewlett-Packard announced that it will implement a global initiative recall and replacement program for approximately 74,000 batteries used in certain HP notebooks. In May 2009, Hewlett-Packard announced the recall of the 4th batch of notebook batteries 70,000. In May 2010, it also recalled 54,000 batteries.

Not only is there a problem with the battery, last year HP's "quality door" burst in China, but also caused consumer collective complaints.
