Philips Lighting launched its groundbreaking, state-of-the-art SSL lighting solution at the 2009 New York International Lighting Show: an A-shapeLED bulb with a luminous flux of up to 600lm, and a record that can eventually be used to replace the US 40W incandescent bulbs for general lighting applications on the market, and 60W incandescent bulb technology for the European market (230V).
The new generation of A-shapeSSL prototyping bulbs developed by Philips Lighting is characterized by high efficiency, energy savings, and a fully dimmable range of up to 10% in a high performance package including light output, efficacy, color and dimming. When the bulb is powered by Philips Lumileds' high-performance LUXEONRebelLED, the 8W120V bulb has a luminous efficacy of 75 lm/W, which is five times the equivalent of an incandescent bulb. The bulb's brightness is fully adjustable and can be as low as 10%, making it ideal for table lamps, ceiling lighting, and other indoor general lighting applications.
